What is Christianity?
Christianity is one major faith that arches over many different groups. In the religion Christianity there are smaller groups that have the same belief with some differences. Some of these groups are know as:
There are many more but these are the 4 main beliefs in Christianity. Christianity is a monotheistic religion. Christianity is a religion based upon the teachings and miracles of Jesus Christ. The meaning of the word 'Christ' means 'The anointed one.' Jesus is the anointed one from whom God the Father sent down to this world to fulfil the Old Testament and to teach and preach. Jesus came down to earth the die one the cross to save us from sin and then the rise from the dead in human form in the Third Day. Jesus performed miracles such as healing the sick, multiplying food, walking on water and even raising someone from the dead. Christianity teaches that there is only one Holy God and Christians live to understand and follow that. Christians believe that God created the Earth, every living creature and everything in the world. God also created man and woman. God created everyone in his own image and likeness which means he made us from his character and rationality. Christianity teaches not to sin. To not sin is to be like Jesus, who never sinned and who is pure in heart and mind. Confession is held in Catholic communities around the world. Confession is when Catholics (or Christians), go and confess there sins to the priest, and the priest, through the power of God, will forgive them of their sins. This is done so that they can be clean and so that they can enter heaven faster. God is a Trinity. A trinity is something that has three things in one. Christians believe there is three God in one. These are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This makes the sign of the cross. The sign of the cross is a sign or prayer that is used and said not matter what group of christians you are. It is a way to open a prayer or to close a prayer. |
